On the outskirts of the little town of Barolo, Italy, sits the Marchesi di Barolo estate, encompassing 430 acres of pristine UNESCO World Heritage vineyards. Everything here is perfect: the altitude, exposure, the soils, the layout, the microclimate.  It's a winemaker's dream.  The estate even includes the Cannubi Cru, perhaps the most famous hill in Italy, and the vineyard is among the most celebrated and prestigious with the Barolo designation.

"Barolo", as we know it today, is wine that was first made in the early 1800's by the Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia. The wine from their estate soon became known as, "the wine from Barolo", and was often served at important diplomatic and royal functions, thus earning the title "the wine of kings".  In 1929, local winemaker, Pietro Abbona purchased the cellars formerly owned by the Marchesi, along with all of the vineyard holdings as well, and over the past 90 years an incredible legacy of exquisite winemaking has unfolded.

Today, Marchesi di Barolo remains a family owned business. Since 2006, the estate has been under the direction of Pietro's great-grandson and fifth-generation winemaker, Ernesto Abbona, his wife Anna, their son Davide, and their daughter (our host for this wine tasting) Valentina Abbona.

The tasting includes a phenomenal selection of wines (5 bottles with your order), handpicked by Ms. Abbona, and paired with a wonderful charcuterie & cheese board creation by Bentwater's Certified Master Chef, Olivier Andreini.

2. Upon confirmation we will send you a Zoom Conferencing link by email with the Zoom Meeting ID#, along with easy to follow instructions.

3. Your wine order and charcuterie & cheese board will be ready for pick-up on September 11th between 12:00pm - 5:00pm.  Tell us when you're on the way, by calling 936-597-2508, and we'll bring it to you curbside at the Clubhouse.  We do recommend that you open your bottles of wine 30 minutes before the event begins.

4. On September 11th at 6:00pm, grab your phone, tablet, computer or laptop and a comfy spot on the couch as you join us live for a fun evening at the Virtual Vineyard!

If you need to cancel your order, please note that a 72-hour notice of cancellation (by calling 936-597-2508 or by email to [email protected]) is required prior to September 8th at 5:00pm, or 50% of the price of the event, plus tax, will be charged to your member account.
