Attention All MOBsters……..!!

"Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!"

This month we have Jace Houston from the San Jacinto River Authority, along with and Mike Bleier, President of Lake Conroe Association, to discuss the upcoming proposals to Stop the Drop of Lake Conroe.  Come and hear what steps are required to reverse this practice.  Now is your chance to hear it firsthand and the importance of the upcoming meetings to be held in Conroe in February.   Hope to see you all there.

JACE A. HOUSTON

Jace Houston currently serves as General Manager for the San Jacinto River Authority, a public agency created by the legislature in 1937 for the purpose of developing, conserving, and protecting the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. 

He also serves as chairman of the board of the TWCA Risk Management Fund, a self-insurance risk pool for water agencies across Texas.

In his career prior to joining the river authority, Jace served as general counsel for the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, staff attorney for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, and general counsel for State Representative Robert Saunders in the Texas House of Representatives. 

Mr. Houston received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mike Bleier

Mike Bleier is actively involved in Stop the Drop.  With his past experience with the LCA, Mike is supporting the efforts to stop the dropping of Lake Conroe levels.   Mike graduated from Niagara University 1980 BBA Accounting, moved to Houston in  1980 and took job with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (Big 8 Acctg Firm). He passed CPA exam 1981 and started consulting practice in 1983.  Mike acquired The All Seasons Travel Group in 1986 with Susan (business partner) and married Susan 1988.

Mike built their home on Lake Conroe in 2002.  He joined Lake Conroe Association (LCA) in 2005 - became LCA President 2005 and now president for 15 years.

Primary accomplishments with LCA:

* Teamwork with anglers, SJRA and Texas Parks & Wildlife to fight invasive weeds on Lake Conroe (including Hydrilla)

* Funded 2010 Texas A&M Study on effect of constructing SJRA Water Treatment Facility on lake levels

* Removal of 450 stumps from Lake Conroe during drought of 2011
