For those of you who know Patz and Hall, you know, but for those of you who have never had the pleasure of enjoying their world class Pinots and Chardonnays, I would strongly encourage you to.  Because of the quality of their wines the winery very rarely is incentivized to provide special pricing, but we were able to secure a couple for our membership.  The deepest discounts are on both the Sonoma Coast Pinot and Chardonnay, but I would also recommend the 2016 single vineyard "Dutton Ranch" Chardonnay (I have had it and it is superb) and the 2015 single vineyard "Chenoweth Ranch" Pinot Noir (outstanding wine).

They have extended this offering to us through the end of the year and we will be scheduling a tasting with them as well in October.  Let me know if you have any questions and have a great day.

 OFFER EXPIRES DECEMBER 31st

2016 Patz & Hall Chardonnay "Dutton Ranch" (12pk)

Winemaker Notes

Green apple and spicy pear aromas leap from the glass. Notes of Muscat and orange blossom waft around toasted hazelnut, clove, banana and fresh earth. Dense and mouth filling, the wine shows great acidic flow and a dynamic range of flavors. It's complex without being heavy or tedious. Tangerine, dried apricot, chai tea and crème caramel dart and weave through the long finish. The 2016 offering is broader, denser and fuller bodied than the 2015. Once again, Dutton Ranch has delivered a wonderfully age-worthy wine that captures the charm and complexity of some of Sonoma County's oldest Chardonnay vines.

Critical Acclaim

Jeb Dunnuck – 95pts

The 2016 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch offers more honeyed citrus, orchard fruits, pineapple, and floral notes, with a gorgeous minerality developing with time in the glass. Medium-bodied, vibrant and fresh, with good acidity and building richness, it's classic all the way and a thrilling Chardonnay from this estate.

2016 Patz & Hall Chardonnay Sonoma Coast (12pk)

Winemaker Notes

This wine is beautifully complex with aromas and flavors of pineapple, guava, honeydew and lime zest, as well as secondary notes of toasted almond macaroon, cinnamon and sugar cookies. On the palate, it is plush and mouthfilling, flowing to a long, layered finish.

Critical Acclaim

Wine Enthusiast – 93pts

Rich and brooding with intensely perfumed oak, this is a layered white made from grapes grown throughout the appellation. It delivers medium-bodied weight and grip, with lush apple and gingersnap flavors.

Wine & Spirits – 93pts

A blend of fruit from vineyards on the coastal side of Sonoma County, many providing the more ambitious single-vineyard wines for Patz & Hall, this is the freshest of the 2016 chardonnays we tasted from the winery. The wine's clarity is impressive, tightening around peach-pit flavors and fleshier notes of nectarine and kumquat. Its oak influence remains in the background, reading as cinnamon notes and crossing over into mineral edges that bring to mind sandstone. It's plump, lively and rich, delivering exactly what you'd want from a coastal chardonnay.

2014 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir "Chenoweth Ranch" (6pk)

Winemaker Notes

From its alluring deep ruby color to its powerful aromas of dark chocolate, dusty cedar, bright cherry, raspberry and toasted almond, this is a dynamic and complex wine. While it possesses a lovely rich, sappy quality, with smooth, supple tannins, it also displays a brightness and energy that adds freshness to the complex fruit and spice flavors. The finish is silky and long, with lingering notes of lavender and spice.

Wine Enthusiast – 94pts

This lovely, memorable wine from a fantastically farmed site is grippy in cherry and pomegranate with a backbone of integrated oak. Crunchy in texture, it shines in floral aromatics and a balanced body weight that's fruity and complex.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate – 94pts

The 2014 Pinot Noir Chenoweth Ranch is a Russian River cuvée of 1,284 cases. This sees a lot more new oak, at 70%, and a slightly higher percentage of whole-clusters/stems (15%). The Chenoweth Vineyard, which is seven acres in the cool, Green Valley, has produced a wine that displays a deep ruby/purple color, loads of raspberry and black cherry fruit, a hint of cola, baking spices and loamy soil undertones. The wine is lovely, medium to full-bodied, rich and complex.  Look for it to drink well for up to a decade.

2015 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir "Chenoweth Ranch" (6pk)

Winemaker Notes

This stunning wine delivers everything we love about this vineyard: it's bursting with bright red fruit, has big, age-worthy tannins and abundant natural acidity. Vibrant red cherry and raspberry notes carry through from the nose to the palate, where they mingle with enticing layers of lavender, orange blossom, dusty forest floor and spice. There is also a lovely savory underpinning, with leesy, nutty notes adding nuance to the lush cherry pie flavors.

A bright wave of spicy sarsaparilla rides alongside crunchy, vibrant tones of crisp red cherry, pomegranate and dried herbs in this impressive, well-balanced wine from a tremendous site. Medium bodied, it shows grace and strength in equal measure for superb overall balance.

James Suckling – 96pts

This has attractive concentration and offers a very rich, focused array of ripe-cherry aromas with attractive, subtly played oak influence. The palate delivers a strikingly deep and concentrated array of pristine red and black cherries with seamlessly long, silky tannins.

2013 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir "Hyde Vineyard" 1.5L Magnum (6pk)

Winemaker Notes

A standout wine of the vintage, 2013 delivered a spectacular expression of Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir. The nose is vivid and complex with floral aromas of rose and carnation, alongside layers of cherry, clove, white chocolate, five-spice powder and fine herbs. The palate is broad and flavorful, with firm tannins and hints of moist earth underscoring vibrant notes of strawberry jam, brandied cherry and espresso. With even more fruit and acid than the exceptional 2012 vintage, this alluring and dynamic Pinot is something special.

Critical Acclaim

Wine Enthusiast – 95pts

High in acidity with a voluptuously sleek and supple body, this is a smoothly tamed wine. It's youthful and structured, with a mix of citrus, black cherry and cola. Medium bodied, it's memorably balanced and possesses subtle power. Editors' Choice

Wine Spectator – 93pts

Gushes with pure, rich blackberry, blueberry and wild berry flavors, with touches of anise and cedar imparting a firm backbone. Most impressive on the finish, which is long and persistent, presenting a firm, tannic backbone. Drink now through 2022.

2016 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir "Hyde Vineyard" (6pk)

Winemaker Notes

This iconic site consistently delivers some of the most elegant and refined Pinots in our portfolio. In 2016, the Hyde Vineyard produced very small yields of just over two tons to the acre, resulting in a wine of exceptional density and concentration. A classic Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir. Aromas of dried roses, cedar cigar box, almond toffee, and cocoa are exquisitely balanced with ripe cherry and cranberry notes. Ripe and full, yet effortlessly light and nuanced on the palate, the flavors dart and weave around a seamless juicy core of fresh red fruit. 2016 is a standout vintage.

James Suckling – 94pts

Fresh blackberries, boysenberries, raspberries, forest floor, earth, underbrush and dried nutmeg. The palate shows a beautiful, savory undertone throughout, which only adds to the enjoyment of the pretty berries, the bright acidity and the sturdy tannins. Drink now or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate – 93pts

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is profoundly scented of black cherries, black raspberries and redcurrants with touches of forest floor, black soil, stewed tea and lavender. Medium to full-bodied, it offers mouth-filling red and black berry flavors with a firm line of fine-grained tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing spicy.

2014 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir "Jenkens Ranch" (6pk)

Winemaker Notes

Once again, Jenkins Ranch has delivered a luscious, flowing expression of Pinot Noir with rich, mouthcoating tannins and alluring fruit. On the nose, layers of spicy cherry, moist forest floor and sea spray showcase this wine's beautiful balance between concentration and complexity. The palate is lush and creamy, with supple tannins adding silkiness to red fruit flavors of raspberry, plum and pomegranate. Underscoring it all are hints of burnt almond toffee and cocoa, as well as an intriguing savoriness that carries the wine to a long satisfying finish.

Critical Acclaim

Wine Enthusiast – 94pts

Jenkins is a Charlie Chenoweth-farmed site, an 18-acre vineyard in the Sebastopol Hills. Spicy acidity cradles considerable weight and breadth, accented in rose petals, cardamom and an elusive partnership of raspberry and strawberry. It's entirely exotic and delicious, both concentrated and lush.

2016 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (12pk)

Winemaker Notes

A marvelous collection of thirteen small, independently family-owned vineyard sites come together in this gorgeous display of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. The color is dark rubygarnet with great density to the rim, hinting at the layered concentration this wine carries so effortlessly. Aromas of spicy, dried cherries, five-spice powder, cocoa and cranberry weave amongst fresh strawberries and kirsch liquor. Though nicely dense and full on the palate, the overt richness avoids heaviness with fresh acidity and bright berry fruit flavors that resolve on a long and detailed finish. At once powerful and concentrated, the 2016 maintains the essential elegance and subtlety that defines great Pinot Noir.

Critical Acclaim

Jeb Dunnuck – 93pts

The 2016 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast comes from a handful of sites on the Sonoma Coast, and it too is more ruby/plum colored. Ripe strawberries, dried flowers, sweet earth, and spice notes all emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a silky, elegant texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. As Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir goes, it's another rich, powerful wine from this estate. It should keep for 8-10 years or more.
