Spring Break Junior Fish Camp - Special Crappie Edition

(We know that's kind of early for the kids, but it can be well worth it during the Crappie Spawning season.)

At the Bentwater Marina

$35/Junior

Join us on the last Saturday morning of this year's Spring Break and we'll see how many Crappie our Bentwater kids can catch.  We recommend bringing your own fishing pole and tackle for Crappie fishing.  Catfish poles are a little large for this application.  The recommended Crappie rod setup (if you need to go to a sporting goods store) is:

5′-6″ light-action spinning
1/8 – 1/4 ounce lure, 2 – 6 pound line

If you do not have any fishing equipment, please let us know when you RSVP below and we will try to make arrangements. Along with learning Crappie specific fishing techniques, our Marina staff will teach the kids the fundamentals of East Texas freshwater lake fishing, including:

• The components of a fishing rod and reel

• Fishing line and how to select the proper weight

• Fish hooks and how to select the proper size

• Learning about bobbers, sinkers, and swivels.
  

• Lures, bait, and how to select the right ones.

• Knot tying

• Essential tools needed to make life easier

• Fishing etiquette

• Fishing safety

• And most importantly, catching lots of fish!

There will also be 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place Prizes for

the Most Fish Caught!
